Sialorrhea

(Excessive Drooling)

Client: Nationwide Children’s

DESCRIPTION

In an animation completed for the interventional radiology team at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Nucleus explores the condition of sialorrhea, a common condition in children with neurological impairments. The animation begins by exploring normal anatomy of the head and neck, explaining how saliva is formed, and gives an overview of the problem – excessive drooling.

In the second half of the animation, Nucleus shows the process of salivary gland ablation to correct the problem. By working closely with the medical staff at NCH, the Nucleus team is able to depict this unique procedure in a way that is easy for patients and their caregivers to understand.
